When you are in the market for a new car, you probably ask family and friends, either in person or via social media for their past experiences and opinions. This is proving to be the trend for most owners who are shopping around for, but it is particularly the case for hybrid vehicles like the Toyota Prius, which has been generating tons of buzz on social media platforms.
GenSent Insights, a social analytics company took a closer look into the vehicle's social media presence and found that the Prius is the most talked about hybrid in its segment. The firm discovered this by compiling data from Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media sites. They then appraised this data to determine a total media value and put it into a dollar amount.
Wondering just want that amount comes to? $14.5 million. That's a pretty big number.
The Prius is quickly becoming the most popular vehicle to chat about, especially on Twitter, where the model has had 86,000 mentions. This is more than three times the amount of tweets that other models generate online. Part of the model's success on Twitter can be attributed to a tweet put out by Jeremy Clarkson, from the television show Top Gear, which generated 8,371 mentions alone.
